Cayman Islands
The Ministry of Health and Human Services (MHHS) in the Cayman Islands contracted Allen + Clarke to review the Cayman Island’s public health sector. We provided advice and recommendations on:
- How to modernise public health legislation
- The strengths and weaknesses of the current public health system
- Future relationships between health sector organisations and appropriate lines of accountability to the Ministry of Health and Human Services
- An appropriate job description for a Director of Public Health, and
- How to best structure and manage the public health service to achieve a vision of ‘optimal well-being for all.”
As part of the review the Allen + Clarke team made recommendations to shift the focus of health care from a treatment modality relying on high cost health interventions to a more population based health approach designed to prevent the diseases and conditions which create the need for expensive medical interventions and treatment in the first place.
