Strategic policy review and development
Allen + Clarke has considerable experience in assisting government agencies to review or develop inter-sectoral strategies. Our work helps our clients to define and achieve their core outcomes and helps to mobilise and unite different sectors and stakeholders towards common goals.
One example of our work is in the field of injury prevention. We assisted the Accident Compensation Corporation to develop and implement national injury prevention strategies for two of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities from injury: falls and drowning.
Both of the national strategies were approved by the Government and now provide the strategic framework for action. The Strategies were developed via a collaborative process where expert input was sought from government and non government stakeholders to ensure the problems were fully understood, an agreed set of goals and outcomes defined, and a consolidated and co-ordinated set of objectives and actions agreed to realise the longer term goals.
Challenging but realistic objectives were created to ensure each strategy was sound, effective, and efficient in the following areas:
- Governance and leadership
- Partnerships, community engagement and development
- Workforce development
- Policy and legislation
- Education and awareness
- Use of funding and resources
- Decisions on which programmes and interventions to implement
- Research and evaluation
- Monitoring and compliance activity.
