Allen & Clarke provided policy support to the Ministry of Social Development for work on the development of a single benefit. This included work on residence requirements, benefit criteria for young people, and disability issues.

National Plan for Reducing Smoking Initiation in Aotearoa New Zealand
Allen & Clarke and the Health Sponsorship Council developed this plan in collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders.

Support for Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) on anti-doping work
This involved in-house policy support, assistance with Cabinet papers and related documents, and work on an international treaty, including analysis of its domestic implications.

Allen & Clarke has provided policy and legal support for the development and implementation of New Zealand-based legislation to provide compulsory treatment and rehabilitiation for offenders who have an intellectual disability.

Review of re-enrolment processes for excluded school students
Allen & Clarke was contracted by the New Zealand Ministry of Education to assess processes for re-enrolling school students who had been excluded from school due to misbehaviour.

Review of the New Zealand Immigration Act 1987
Policy and research support for the Department of Labour in progressing this work.

Policy support on a range of public health topics
Allen & Clarke has a number of public health practitioners who can provide policy support across the broad spectrum of public health topics.

Review of tobacco control policies for their potential application to nutrition policy
This review focussed on an assessment of the potential lessons to be learnt from tobacco control efforts over the past 30 or so years - for application to obesity and other diet-related public health policies.

Literature review and development of policy options for the regulation of tobacco products in order to limit tobacco-related harm (2004).

Policy advice on the scope of a national public health screening programme, including advice on implementation decisions (2003).

Review of the policy framework used by a school to update policies as required by the National Administration Guidelines (2004).

Falls Prevention Strategy
Allen & Clarke assisted the New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) to develop a Falls Prevention Strategy.

Building regulation
Allen & Clarke has produced a range of policy papers for the Building Industry Authority (2003-04) and Department of Building and Housing (2005 to 2008 and ongoing).

Drowning Prevention Strategy
Assistance provided to the New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) to develop a Drowning Prevention Strategy (2004-05).

Radiation protection legislation
Allen & Clarke reviewed the Radiation Protection Act for the purpose of identifying amendments to the Act that were needed to give effect to New Zealand’s international obligations with respect to the use, transport, security and storage of radioactive sources (2004).

Review work on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Act
Assisted the Ministry of Health with a review of the Alcoholism & Drug Addiction Act, including a literature review, analysis of international approaches to the compulsory treatment of people with alcohol and drug problems, and development of policy options.

Trans-Tasman regulator of therapeutic products
Led, and participated, in the New Zealand / Australia project considering the establishment of a trans-Tasman regulator of therapeutic products (2002 - 2005).

New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy
Assistance provided to the New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) to finalise the New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy and to develop the 2004/05 Implementation Plan for the Strategy (2003).

Dietary supplements discussion paper
Development, for the New Zealand Food Safety Authority, of a discussion paper on options for the regulation of dietary supplements (2002-2003).

Advice for the Ministry of Health on strategies to prepare for incidences of biological or chemical terrorism events.
