Review of means for regulation of cross border tobacco advertising This work included scoping options and barriers to controlling cross border tobacco advertising. Support for Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) on anti-doping work This involved in-house policy support, assistance with Cabinet papers and related documents, and work on an international treaty, including analysis of its domestic implications. The regulation of industrial hemp cultivation Under contract to the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority (MEDSAFE), Allen & Clarke assisted with the development of a regulatory framework for the control of hemp cultivation. Intellectual disability legislation Allen & Clarke has provided policy and legal support for the development and implementation of New Zealand-based legislation to provide compulsory treatment and rehabilitiation for offenders who have an intellectual disability. Vanuatu road traffic legislation review A gap analysis of the Republic of Vanuatu's legislation governing road safety. Development of legislation for a Health Promotion Foundation in Tonga Following a workshop in the Kingdom of Tonga, Allen & Clarke led the drafting of legislation to establish a Foundation and a health promotion fund, including a governance and accountability framework for the Foundation. Road traffic legislation for the Kingdom of Tonga Allen & Clarke provided legislative drafting and policy support assistance to Tonga for the development of practical legislation requiring the installation and use of seat belts. Regulatory review on a range of tobacco control topics Allen & Clarke prepared a consultation document for the New Zealand Ministry of Health on a range of potential regulatory changes in the tobacco control area. Non-communicable disease legislation for Viet Nam Allen & Clarke was contracted by the World Health Organization (WHO) to assist the Government of Viet Nam in prioritising legislative interventions to reduce the health burden experienced as a result of non-communicable diseases. Tongan alcohol legislation Recommendations for amendments to the Intoxicating Liquor Act and the Traffic Act of Tonga (2004). Guide to legislation for designated officers We reviewed an existing legislative database and updated this to include legislation enacted since 2001 (2004). Governance of the fire service The Department of Internal Affairs contracted Allen & Clarke to provide two reports to help inform the policy work being undertaken as part of the DIA-led review of New Zealand’s outdated fire service legislation (2004). Radiation protection legislation Allen & Clarke reviewed the Radiation Protection Act for the purpose of identifying amendments to the Act that were needed to give effect to New Zealand’s international obligations with respect to the use, transport, security and storage of radioactive sources (2004). Trans-Tasman regulator of therapeutic products Led, and participated, in the New Zealand / Australia project considering the establishment of a trans-Tasman regulator of therapeutic products (2002 - 2005). International tobacco control projects A number of regional and international tobacco control projects, including for Pacific Island countries, Indonesia, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID)(2001-2006 and ongoing). Regulation of private healthcare providers in Kosovo The development of legislation to regulate the private health care sector in Kosovo (2002). Regulation of Allied Health Professionals in Africa Preparation of advice for the Commonwealth Secretariat on options for the regulation of allied health professionals in 14 East, Southern and Central (ESCA) African countries (2002-2003).
