About the Experts
Michael Webster: Michael stepped into the role of Privacy Commissioner on 5 July 2022. With over 14 years in the Cabinet Office, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and serving as Secretary of the Cabinet and Clerk of the Executive Council since March 2014, Michael brings a wealth of experience in public service. His expertise spans policy development, corporate strategy, and risk management, focusing on good governance, promoting democratic values, and ensuring compliance with legal and constitutional standards.
Eve Kennedy: Eve is a public policy and privacy specialist with experience working across the private and public sectors and has worked at OPC since 2019. She has previously chaired the Board of a Charitable Trust and is particularly interested in healthcare privacy.
Stuart Baresford: Stuart is Allen + Clarke’s privacy officer and a privacy policy veteran. He’s helped create bespoke privacy policies and acted as an external privacy officer for businesses throughout Aotearoa. He understands the balance organisations need to have between meeting their legal obligations and protecting personal information, whilst being manageable and operational for your organisation.
